wondering who I’d be if people didn’t place this expectation of service and protection on butches and trans guys. if people realized there’s more than one queer masculinity, that our masculinity doesn’t have to be the perfectly helpful kind to not be Evil Patriarchy. look, I quite enjoy being a queer gentleman but I want my kindness and my care to be something that I choose, that actually comes from me and not something people expect from me in return for allowing my masculinity.
